Insurance Agent: Shannon Smith
I chose this career because assisting customers and solving problems gives me the most satisfaction. The best part of my job is helping people by making sure that they are adequately covered while feeling that they are being serviced personally. I’ve looked at it from day one as an opportunity to treat other people’s family members just as I would want my own to be treated when they call an organization. I strive to treat customers with respect, personal attention and with a desire to provide the utmost in customer service. If I don’t have the answer, I won’t pretend that I do; I have no problem with saying, “I’m not completely sure about that, so let me double check and get right back to you.” I’ve never once had anyone complain about that!
My first question is, “How can I help?” As an insurance professional I am looking to make sure that there is accuracy with attention to detail in the beginning. After that, anything that comes up I can handle.
I’ve spent 20+ years in the industry. I started as an underwriter, so looking at the big picture comes naturally to me. "How can I make this fit for each individual?” is a phrase I keep in my head at each piece of new business. I worked in the District Office for Farmers Insurance for 10 years and then a large retail agency after that. Working all aspects of an insurance policy is something I’ve never shied away from. I spent 2 years at a Life and Financial Services Brokerage as well, so my belief in these products comes from many years of experience.
I’m passionate about animal rights and am beginning the process of fostering rescued dogs and cats. I love to see live music, read and cook. I create recipes constantly and hope to one day publish my own cookbook.
I’ve lived in this area my whole life, so I understand our geography, concerns with changes in our cities and the effect that the increase in population has in our lifestyles.
